Parents in Partnership Stockport

A Local Area Inspection took place in September 2018, which was undertaken by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The final report has now been published and can be read in full at: ychannel=999.

This recent inspection of Stockport’s provision for children and young people 0-25 years with special educational needs or disability (SEND) found both strengths and weaknesses. These strengths and weaknesses were in identifying, assessing and meeting these young people’s needs and improving their outcomes.

The inspection also judged that co-production with children, young people and families was weak. The local area has not engaged with enough families and has not always designed and developed provision with them from the start. Too few families have heard of the work of Parents in Partnership Stockport (PIPS), the local parent/carer forum.

Sherann Hillman and Paul Harper, Co-Chairs of Parents in Partnership Stockport, said: “We welcome the feedback from the inspection and appreciate we need to do more to publicise our work and the support we offer to families.

“Looking forward we will continue to make the views of families known to local area leaders and further improve our partnership working across health, education and social care. This will be a key focus in our future activities with families and professionals, including those working to improve provision for children and young people with SEND and their families.”
