In February 2012 Stockport MBC asked Parents in Partnership Stockport (PIPS) to help them plan the reshaping of local services, support and funding for families with children and young people with disabilities and additional needs ready for the SEND reforms. After a few months of gathering the views and a number of meetings with families, they came up with a vision of what services, support and funding could be like if the needs and wishes of parent carers were at the centre of the design, development and delivery. This was a great opportunity for parents to shape Stockport's plans when implementing the Children & Families Act over the coming years. Most of all, it's was an opportunity for us to work together and talk about what is needed to make futures better for local families we all represent.
